Fencing, and dirt and backhoes, oh my!

If you traveled past the Library this week, you’ve seen daily changes.  At first, fencing appeared.

Then small set up activities started to occur:  brush was trimmed and fencing in place.

And then….

(Yes we know now our date stamp is wrong - it is NOT  March or April!! Our camera seems to be confused.)

As I write this post a backhoe is behind the Library.  The smell of fresh earth hints of spring.  Everyone is excited that it appears that something is happening!  We are all glad that the weather is holding and can’t wait to see what happens next.

This space that is being cleared will span from the back of the existing building to just into the parking lot and will serve as an extension off the back of the building.  Ultimately the Rose Lane side of this space will be programming and meeting space.

On the back side of the building (the Rose Lane side) you will see similar activity spanning a much smaller plot - about six feet out from the side of the building, extending not as far as the paved drive way.

In the inside, Library staff has been examining the old circulation desk.  We are exploring if it can be changed, and if so, how?  We know what we’d like, but now we must figure out if given space and funds, if it’s possible.
