Foundations

Once again this week Mother Nature has co-operated and we saw big changes in the Library’s project.  At the start of the week, the crew came in to start removing the stacks.

They made it look easy, but we know it wasn’t!

As the week went on, the slab was laid.  I missed the cement mixer this time, but the evidence that it had come was undeniable.

Today, as we were coming in to open the Library, we couldn’t help but sneak a peak!  Not only were all the book cases gone, but the folding walls, the rug, and the circ desk.  The image was striking.  I’ve included the photos, but they don’t do it justice.

The adult section

The circ desk looking right.

This used to be the corner of Large print and non-fiction.

Most striking - the Children's area:

Next they will be working on HVAC and electrical work.  With Christmas and New Year’s right around the corner, both this blog and the Library’s progress may be quiet for a few weeks, but we’ll be back!  As the next stages of work (HVAC and electrical) gets done, visuals might not be very impressive.  In fact, there may be nothing to see at all, but we’ll be sure to take pictures if there’s something to see.

We’ll keep you posted! And don’t forget to keep on eye on the Town’s Facebook page too! (https://www.facebook.com/columbiact/ where you can see aerial footage of the construction site thanks to M. Jorgensen’s drone camera.)

Happy Holidays!
