The Start of a Roof

If you have traveled the center of town this week, you know we have started to see roofing!  The trusses and ply are up in the most back section of the building.  As I understand it, there are some interior supports that will come next.  These are necessary items, but afford no good photo ops.  I presume that when this is completed, we will start to see the trusses and ply on the middle section of roof.  Some people have wondered if this middle section will be flat.  It should not be. This section will slant in the opposite direction.  So the roof in the back of the building will mirror the roof line in the front.

When this stage is complete the next phase will most likely be ‘invisible’ to us.  Heating ducts, etc. will need to be placed in the roof, etc. but we’ll try to keep you posted as we know ourselves.

Starting to Feel Walled In

In the Mini B. it will come as no surprise that we are starting to run out of room!  One of the book cases that we brought with, turned out to not be as ‘user friendly’ in our new space as it had in the past.  So we are sending it to storage and adding shelving that is better for the current space.  The shelving has just arrived, so anyone stopping in this weekend might be in for a surprise!  We will try to make our transition as quick and smooth as possible.

At the old building, we have been very excited to see the shape developing off the back and side of the building and the hints of windows and doors.  This week though, our view started to be hindered, but I don’t think any of us truly minded.  There is something about walls that seem very definitive.

Lots of progress and I expect that next week, I’ll be talking about roofing!

Freeze Frame

If anyone has come by this week, you’ve seen the progress!  Framing has not simply begun, but has taken major steps forward!  Weather permitting, I would not be surprised if we started to see trusses going up next week.
From this side angle, you can start to see things take shape.  If you click on this picture and make it bigger - you might be able to see the header wall and posts.  These posts will be in the library building and will serve as the location of the internal wall of the programming area.

Another view - If you note the hole by where the man is working - that will be window.  You can also see where doors and windows are being framed in the back.
